Carolyn sits down with her back against a wall just outside of the Nexus place. She leans her head back against it and closes her eyes for a second.

"I think my life has just gotten a lot more complicated. I knew I should have taken the doctor's advice and gotten therapy."

Carolyn doesn't bother to open her eyes when she hears footsteps approaching but she starts grinning when she hears a familiar voice.

"Nope... just needed some time to think. All of this is a bit... overwhelming."

"Understatement of the year." Shakes his head with an answering grin. "Been here two weeks, and seen enough to last me the rest of my life."

Carolyn finally opens her eyes and looks up at him. It's so weird, seeing him again.

"You've been here two weeks? Have you seen another me? That sounds so strange."

"No, but I've seen three other I could have sworn were dead." He stands, rigid. Resisting the urge just to sit down and pull her to him. His fists and jaw clench, a dull ache starting to throb in his chest. He shoves it down.

Carolyn looks away and lowers her head.

"Like you thought I was dead. You know, I remember the look on your face when the monsters pulled me away."

"Yeah? I remember the look in your eyes. Never could forget it."

Carolyn reaches over and grabs her bag. She ruffles through it for a second then pulls out a folder. She starts flipping the pages then pauses and looks up at him.

"I've been saving clippings... you know where people have said that they'd seen you and stuff." She shrugs a little. "I don't know why really."

"Couldn't have been too hard. Hell, half the 'verse was after my hide awhile back."

Carolyn chuckles.

"No shit? You're just playin' with me right?"

"Maybe exaggerated a little. Sure felt like it, though. Elementals, Necros, Mercs, even that Hoodoo from the ship. Never been so popular." Grin.

Carolyn furrows her brows and holds up her hand.

"Wait, wait, wait slow down... I've been away for a long time, so you're going to have to fill me in."

"Alright. What do you want to know?"

Carolyn sets aside her folder and sighs. Where to start?

"Okay obviously you survived and I can't remember if the other you said or not but did you stay with Jack and Imam?"

"Dropped them off on Helion Prime. Then I skipped out. Stayed on UV 9 for five years." He drops his hood, and sits down across from her.

"UV 9, think I've heard of that planet." She shrugs and taps her head. "Things are sometimes a bit fuzzy."

"Not an ideal spot for a vacation, frosen heap, nothing but ice." He shrugs a little, then goes on with the story.

"'Bout a year back, some Merc, Toombs came after me. Told me there was a new bounty on my head, from the Holy Man. So I paid a visit to the guy. Turns out, an Elemental wanted me alive, to fight some cult that was destroying the universe. But I had better things to do. Like going after Jack, when I found out she got thrown in the slam. On Crematoria. Still with me?"

Carolyn leans forward as she listens to him speaking. Little Jack in slam?! Cults taking over the 'verse?! Damn she has been out of the loop for awhile! But she's heard of Elementals, but always discounted the talk because well she mostly heard the rumors in bars and most of the people talking were drinking.

"Jack.. got sent to slam....? But yeah still with you."

"Right. So she changed her name to Kyra. Here's where it get's screwed up. In one 'verse. She and Kyra were two totally different people, something happened to them, and Kyra go her memories. In another 'verse, Kyra IS Jack." He sighs a little.

"Anyway, we busted out, but the Necros, that's the cult I was supposed to destroy. Found us first. I nearly died, and she got caught. I followed them, and killed their leader. But Jack/Kyra died as well."
He pauses, this part still hurts.

Carolyn reaches out toward him when she could swear that she spots a trace of regret flicker across his face but then draws her hand back. After his reaction to just her being alive... She leans her head back against the wall and tries to get her mind to accept everything he's saying.

"That's ... some story."

"Yeah, it is. What about you? What happened, after those things took you away?"

"I... I can't remember what happened after... well you know. One minute I'm watching you then the next I'm in a hospital, and they're telling me that there'd been a crash and a team of salvagers had found me, barely alive."

"A crash, huh?" He eyes her a moment before resting his head against the wall behind him and closing his eyes. "Perfect."

Carolyn looks at him for a second then snorts.

"Hey I didn't crash the damned thing! Anyway, once I was well enough, I booked a flight on the first ship out... There was no way I could go back to being a docking pilot, who'd hire me? Nobody! So I've been roaming..."
